The UCPN (Maoist) has decided to form a new government under the leadership of its chairman of party Pushpa Kamal Dahal. A meeting of the party's office bearers held at Dahal's residence in Lazimpat this morning decided to form a national consensus government under Dahal's leadership and to appeal to all political parties to join it. A statement issued after the meeting states that a new government under UCPN (Maoist) is needed because CPN (UML)-led incumbent government has failed to deliver results in terms of protecting national independence and dignity, complete remaining tasks of the peace process and addressing current political problems through dialogue. It also says the decision was taken since even the largest party Nepali Congress had decided to extend its support to government led by Dahal.
